ADDITION | RENOVATION | RESTORATION

HERITAGE | RESIDENTIAL | INSTITUTIONAL

After completion of the restoration to the Basilica Church of our Lady Larkin Architect was asked to completely restore/conserve, renovate, and provide additions to the adjacent southeast building.  This building was originally built in the 1850’s as a four-storey seminary and had undergone several poorly conceived and executed alterations as well as considerable deferred maintenance which precipitated the current project.

Larkin Architect Limited worked to arrive at a conservation and renovation strategy to convert the original building into a priest’s residence with a new addition accommodating the parish offices and meeting room functions.  In all cases, the Standards and Guidelines for the Conservation of Historic Places in Canada were followed while attending to the client’s programme needs/budget constraints and managing unique building code constraints to arrive at a win-win-win solution.
